Vietnam is located in the tropical monsoon climate zone and has quite distinct climates across its regions. The country is influenced by two main wind systems: the Northeast monsoon and the Southeast monsoon. Therefore, the climate of Vietnam shows clear seasonal variations.

The North: The North has a tropical monsoon climate, with a clear division into four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The Spring (from February to April): Spring is the transition period between winter and summer. The weather is warm, with frequent drizzling rains, and plants start to sprout. The average temperature ranges from 18-25°C.

The Summer (from May to July): Summer is the hottest season of the year, with hot and dry weather and little rain. The average temperature ranges from 26-38°C. Summer in the North often experiences intense heatwaves, which can lead to water shortages and droughts.

The Autumn (from August to October): Autumn is the transition period between summer and winter, with cool, pleasant weather and frequent rains. The average temperature ranges from 22-28°C. Autumn in the North often sees many storms and floods.

The Winter (from November to January): Winter is the coldest season of the year, with cold, dry weather and little rain. The average temperature ranges from 15-22°C. In the North, temperatures can drop below 10°C, and there may be frost and ice. Winter in the North often experiences harsh cold spells, which can impact production and daily life.

The Central Vietnam: Central Vietnam has two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season lasts from January to August, with high temperatures and little rainfall. The rainy season lasts from September to December, with frequent heavy rains and storms. The average annual temperature ranges from 22-30°C, with significant differences between regions.

Temperature: In summer, temperatures can reach 35-40°C, especially in provinces like Quang Binh and Quang Tri. In winter, temperatures drop to 18-20°C in the northern provinces and around 22-25°C in the southern provinces.

Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is between 2000-3000 mm, with most rainfall concentrated in the rainy season. Northern Central provinces like Nghe An and Ha Tinh receive more rainfall than southern provinces like Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

The South: The South has an equatorial climate, with two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.

Dry Season (from November to April): The dry season has the least rainfall of the year, with hot, dry weather. The average temperature ranges from 26-38°C. The dry season in the South often experiences intense heatwaves, along with droughts and forest fires.

Rainy Season (from May to October): The rainy season has the most rainfall of the year, with cool and wet weather. The average temperature ranges from 22-28°C. The rainy season in the South often brings many storms and floods.
